Blue flowers

Last December I was the lucky winner of a giveaway over at Huzzah! Vintage: I got to pick a dress from Jess of Poison Oak's etsy shop. I thought I'd take the opportunity to choose one a little different to my usual style.

The busy blue flower pattern and three quarter sleeves are what first attracted me to the dress. It was only when I tried it on that I noticed the pockets :) What is it with pockets? I don't put anything in them but they please me no end.

I've been itching to wear this one all winter and on Saturday we reached 19C/66F - finally time to take it for a spin without fear of frost bite. ;) Instead I found it ws too hot to keep my jacket on :D Ok, ok, I've turned into a weather show-off! Bragging aside, it 's so nice to see the parks, greens and commons fill up with people again as the city comes alive after the cold months.

sunnies: Claire's (unlike Mom's this is actually a shop)
dress: Poison Oak Vintage
jeans jacket: H&M years and years ago
scarf: Mom's
shoes: Clarks some years back

I really like the three quarter length sleeves, and the colour is great on you. I'm also liking to see people out and about in the parks, although I can't help but think that it must make it a bit awkward for your self-protraiture...

I am not naturally curly but it seems to work much better than leaving the stuff in it 's original state. ;)

  9. I am the exact same way about pockets. If I'm unsure about something and I find out it has pockets, I'm immediately swayed to buy it.

  11. Oh. kay. I know I love a lot of your clothes but this dress is just so vintage perfect. The sleeves and pattern would have won me over, too, even sans pockets! And that last photo????!!! Yup.

Sexy dress. I really like the colors on you. Is it 80s? That first picture is just the cutest.

  13. Yay pockets, I always put my rings in them when I wash my hands (useful!). Love the first picture, it looks like your dress is growing out of the grass.

  14. Hm, I'm thinking that the deal with pockets is that it simply gives us a place to put our hands...which can totally change the "feel" of an outfit. Admiring the upside down portrait.

  15. Yes, I think it is - for someone who always nags about the 80s I sure got a lot of that decade in my closet

  20. Fantastic photos...I especially love that first one. The blue dress is lovely and quite perfect for spring. I couldn't agree with you more about the weather...but sadly it's rained here steady for the past 2 weeks:(

  22. Finding pockets in an article of clothing that you loved even before discovering them is like the trinket at the bottom of a cracker jacks box. As in, the item doesn't NEED them to be awesome but having them makes it that much more wonderful. I don't ever really use the pockets in my clothing either but just knowing that there's a place for my hands to hide is such a treat. They're also useful for hiding camera remotes and lipgloss :)

Lovely dress you picked out, lovely photos, especially the first one, and I LOVE the pose in the last photo. Hurrah for warmer weather and green grass.

You certainly picked out a beauty of a dress! And it's nice to veer from our ''usual'' style every now and again, is it not? You wear this so well and the blue is really lovely on you. I'm always sold when a dress has pockets :)
