Taotao

Picture taking wasn't particularly inspired yesterday but I had this first pic saved up from Christmas :) The little panda reminds me of Taotao, an 80s anime series I watched religiously when I was little. I actually watched an awful lot of Nippon Animation shows back then. Anyone remember Heidi, Girl of the Alps, Maya the Honey Bee, The Story of Perrine (how I sobbed..) or Dog of Flanders?

Dogtanian and the Three Muskehounds made a particularly big impression. I had a musketeer costume which I insisted had to be accompanied by a black dot painted on my nose to signify that I was in fact a beagle as well as a musketeer. One for all and all for woof?

I am rather taken with this 80s belt my Mom gave me. It 's not a double belt as such, but two belts held together at the back: The top one fitted, the bottom one loose.

Have a great week everybody!

beret: eBay
blouse: ASOS (also available on modcloth)
belt: ex Mom's
skirt: prehistoric H&M

  2. hehe - I love that your belt is ex-mums. I think I have a fair few pieces like that :) I never really got into Anime, but it's never to late to start!

Yep, I remember Dog of Flanders. For quite a few years I spent my after school afternoons parked in front of the TV watching anime. Some of my favorites were Ronan Warriors and Speed Racer. Haha.

Anyway! Loving the blouse. I'm such a sucker for pretty white blouses. The belt most certainly caught my eye, too.

I must have been deprived because I don't remember any of those shows! But I wasn't allowed to watch much TV anyway. You sound like my boyfriend, waxing eloquent about past cartoons... he occasionally subjects me to youtube clips of incomprehensible Catalan animation. ; )

  13. A double belt. How neat is that. Interesting how a Christmas-time outfit seems so Spring-like. I find the outfit very romantic and poetic. I am afraid to disclose my cartoon favourites (I think that they were already obsolete when I was a kid and I still like them): Tintin and Madeline.

  14. I love how laid back this out fit is. The double belt, slouchy proportions, and parka all work so well together, very effortless (the best sort of style!). I'd say the only anime I ever watched was pokemon and i'm not sure if that even counts but I was pretty obsessed when I was 11-12...I secretly still am a little bit, actually! ;)
