Coleridge Rec

I've had a hankering for disused pool portraits forever but the local lido is surrounded by high walls and (it might come as a shock but) I am not Spider-man. I know, what a let down.

I moaned about my lack of access while sketching women standing with their toes over pool edges and heaved a heavy sigh when the When I Grow Up video came out. It was only recently I remembered all the paddling pools around town in a classic "How could I be so short-sighted" moment. Here I am at the first of three local paddling pools.

This week is rather draining at work so I am counting down to the weekend with unprecedented eagerness.
On a more positive note, it looks like our internet provider is playing nice for now (although they haven't told us what was up yet) so I am currently catching up with some blog reading :)

  1. LOVE this photoshoot! I really like the look of abandoned swimming pools too - altho I'd never find one where I live haha. Your outfit is so adorable, love the beret with the jacket. Fab combo :)

Hmm, my internet seems to be going down the drain meanwhile. Great location for a shoot, and I see you're getting some blurred background-while-off-centre action in!

  9. That first shot is amazing! Great location. It is a shame you're not spirder-man... but it seems like your are imagination-woman, and that seems to work pretty well :)
Sorry it is a slow week at work - I find brightly coloured mini-merangues tend to help!

  10. These pictures are so very beautiful. They may be my favorite of yours yet (although you always have such lovely pictures). That Fever Ray song is the best :-) xoxo

  11. Neat photoshoot location, I don't think we have paddling pools here (it looks like a shallow pool meant for children?). There are plenty of covered up public pools in Chicago but unfortunately there are always locked up tight.

I like the print of your dress and the structure of the blazer!

  16. I have that dress, too! I love checking in and seeing how you're styling our dress... always impeccable.
Also -- related to your earlier Creature From The Black Lagoon post -- I don't see in 3-D either.
Between the acorn dress and no depth perception, I feel like we're practically sisters. :P

  18. The first two photos are just excellent. I like the wider view of the first one. And there is something in your face in the second I've never noticed before...amazing what a difference the sunglasses make.

This might sound dumb, but what is a paddling pool for? I see that it's too shallow to really swim in, is it ornamental? Also, your tight+ the color of your dress=A+ combo :)
