Crazy in love

Just before our Christmas holiday I came across a dress on ModCloth I would have run into oncoming traffic for. I would have sang karaoke for this dress, I'd distribute parking tickets or even eat lentil soup (yuck!) for this dress. The trouble was I couldn't buy it because I didn't trust a parcel would get through customs in time for our departure on a long holiday.

I couldn't buy my dream dress. (cue tragic music)
I had to wait until the new year.

I was so infatuated I checked the website daily in case my dress had an "only a few left" notice added to its listing in which case I was ready to panic buy at a moments notice. But new years came and went with "plenty in stock" and on the day of our flight home I finally put the dress in my basket :) For good measure I also added a cardigan I'd been tempted with for months.

Imagine the relief when I received my order confirmation. A victory dance was in order. What do you mean unhealthily obsessed? Let them bury me in this one.

Since taking up outfit blogging I have acquired an odd habit: I can't comfortably wear any new clothes out until I have blogged them for the first time. I get worried that I'll ruin them on their first wear and there will be no record of my ill fated new favourite. Once I have first blogged a new addition to my wardrobe, I feel more relaxed and I can happily wear my clothes to death but until then I walk on eggshells.

Do any of you guys do that? No? OK. I guess when you look up neurotic in the dictionary my name is the only one listed.

I could croon over that dress for hours. The cut, the colours, the flower pattern but I am also obsessed with this white cardigan thing. I have got so few neutrals in my closet my two new off white cardis have been a god send. They tone down all my colourful outfits and 1) make me look all respectable 2) allow me to mix in even more colours!

I really wasn't wanting to wear brown boots with this by the way. Can you imagine a grey or pale blue pair for me instead? Nice.
Well, the brown worked alright but you know how matchy matchy I can get :) If those boots were grey I'd totally blend in with the bridge I am standing on! :D

So obsessed am I with my new dress I just had to show you sans cardi despite it being a rather windy -2C (28F) on Saturday when I took these pics. That made me feel deserving of an "outfit blogger bravery" award but then I remembered Shy's unflinching outfit posts and figured she deserves this imaginary distinction far more. Girl, you're making us all look like wimps, you hear? ;)

  18. Gah! Put that cardigan back on! Brrrr.

I always mean to photograph clothes before wearing them, but it usually doesn't happen. A few of my things are indeed starting to look a little the worse for wear before I can get around to it. Nuisance!

  20. This dress is so you. The colour the print and how it flows as seen in the gif. Perfection.

I am the same way now....if there is a new item in my closet I have to wear it for the first time for a blog photo....then onto for my regular wear.

P.S: Thanks for mentioning the link to the photo. I am surprised at how I did not know about such a famous piece of art.
